See where you stand in your market.

Open Google Maps, search your trade in your city, and read the numbers off the top listings. Everything below comes from what you can see on screen.

Your business
Sort your reviews by newest and count back 30 days.
How many of your 10 newest reviews did you answer?
Your top competitors

Use the businesses that show up above you or beside you on Google Maps. One is enough. Three gives a better picture.

Your numbers stay in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you ask for the plan.

How the numbers work
  • Gap is the review count of the competitor with the most reviews, minus yours.
  • Position compares your count to that leader. At or above 100% you lead. From 75% to 99% you're within reach. From 40% to 74% you're behind. Under 40% you're far behind. These cutoffs are our rule of thumb, not an industry standard.
  • Months to close divides the gap by how many more reviews a month you add than the leader does. If you leave the leader's 30-day number blank, we assume they add none, and the result says so.
  • Pace to close in 12 months is the gap divided by 12, plus the leader's monthly pace if you gave it.
  • Rating compares yours to the simple average of the competitors you entered.
  • Reply rate is replies out of your 10 newest reviews.

This is a snapshot. Competitors keep adding reviews, so run it again each month. We don't look anything up. Every figure comes from what you type.

What homeowners see

Three numbers decide the first impression.

A homeowner with a leaking water heater isn't reading your website. They're scanning the map and picking from what they see in about ten seconds.

Count

How many people said it

A bigger count says you've done a lot of jobs and people took the time to talk about them. It's the number a rollup branch is best at stacking up.

Count is the easiest number to close, because it comes from habit.

Rating

What they said

Stars show whether the work lived up to the promise. A high rating on a small count reads as thin. A high rating on a large count reads as proven.

Rating is the slowest to move, and the hardest for a competitor to fake.

Reply

Who's on the other end

Replies show a real person reads the feedback. Prospects read how you handle the bad ones more closely than they read the good ones.

Reply is free, it takes minutes, and a template can't imitate it.

Independents vs. the rollups

They run a review machine. You run the jobs.

A PE-backed platform can afford a review system on every branch. What it can't copy is a crew that gets named and an owner who answers.

The rollup's playbook
Yours, done right
–A corporate platform texts every customer on a schedule
✓Your tech asks in person before leaving the driveway
–Dozens of branches share one brand and one voice
✓Reviews that name your crew and your neighborhood
–Templated replies signed “The Team”
✓Replies written by someone who knows the job
–Reviews tracked in a dashboard built to impress the next buyer
✓Reviews that turn into calls for your own shop
The rollups aren't better at earning trust. They're better at asking for it, every time. You can do that too.
